the lost brigade: episode 26 (the national special)
‘trouble will find me’ is out today and to celebrate, your host has spent hours and hours crying in a badly lit room trying to decide which 13 songs to play for an hour’s podcast special on her joint favourite band in the world. the playlist was never going to be perfect, but the fun part of this episode is that it’s a personal look at some of lilhan’s favourite the national songs, a lot of gushing and a whole bunch of different versions of songs you may or may not know and love. if you’re new to the national and don’t know much of their wonders, we hope that this is a good introduction/education. if you’re a hardcore fan, we hope this is fun to hear. there are no apologies for lilhan’s gushing and fangirling.
we should say at this point that the session versions are mostly available online, the live tracks can be found on youtube or on various eps and bonus material compilations. however, we STRONGLY SUGGEST that you spend your money on this band. they’ve not released a bad record and we know that ‘trouble will find me’ is going to be the album of 2013 because that’s how good this band is. we hope you’ll go out and buy everything they ever released and give it your time and energy. one cannot love this band without devoting some time to their music. if you’re willing, it’ll repay you over and over again.
the band is also going on tour. to find out where they’ll be, head over to the website. you should also buy a t-shirt because their shirts are great.
as usual, if you’d like to get in touch, please do! we love hearing from you all. head over to the contact page for more info. you can also, if you’re a tumblr user, fill in the TELL ME THINGS box. all correspondence is read and appreciated.
for now, we hope you’ll go and buy ‘trouble will find me’ and fall in love with this band. as you’ll hear over the hour in this episode, we fell for them a long time ago and ‘trouble will find me’ is simply the next chapter of our love affair.
have a great week!
